Mauritania’s $220 Million Solar and Battery Project Advances with Proposed IFC Financing

On 26 October 2026, the International Finance Corporation disclosed a proposed financing package for Istithmar Green Energy’s solar and battery project in Toujounine, Nouakchott-Nord. The wider project is valued at approximately $220 million, with IFC considering a loan of up to $54 million, subject to approval. The first phase includes a large-scale solar plant and battery storage to support electricity access and renewable-energy integration.
